Remember in late July when Barack Obama predicted John McCain's attack strategy? Remember McCain's howls of protest in response? Well, it turns out that Obama was right about McCain's attacks. As it turns out, he knew McCain better than McCain knew McCain. I guess that means we can call him "Nostrobamus."
Just as you predicted, "Nostrobamus" sir! :) (although I must say, these Republicans are nothing if not predictable; same exact thing every 4 years - fear, hate, division, wedge issues, Karl Rove tactics, and of course claim they're not doing it...yawn).
Update by Miles: The McCain camp's response then: "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong." Um, so what is it now, John?
No he wasn't! He was describing the GOP, Bush-McCain-Palin electoral "strategy".
It's like the advice to litigators:
1. If the law is on your side, argue the law.
2. If the facts are on your side, argue the facts.
3. If neither the facts nor the law is on your side, pound the table and call your opponent names.
The political corollary is:
1. If the record is on your side, argue based on the record.
2. If the issues are on your side, argue the issues.
3. If neither your record, nor the issues are on your side, pound the table and call your opponent a "terrorist".
Remind me, what has McCain done to benefit middle class families during his career in Washington?
What has the GOP done over the last 8 years to benefit the U.S. economy?
What exactly is the record of achievement? And what are the ideas to fix it? Twice refried Bush? (e.g. privatize social security and medicare?)
It's no wonder that McCain-Palin tell audiences to forget about the past 8 years. They think we're stupid.
McCain is shooting himself in the foot with this attack strategy. The economic news just gets worse and worse. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think what Americans want to hear is how we are going to get out of this mess. And I don't think anyone is buying that this same old strategy of cutting taxes and government services is what is going to get this done. This just smacks of desperation on McCain's part and I think most Americans can cut through this BS and see it for what it is.
