Tim Kaine in a Debate against... This Guy?

On October 15 at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott George "The South Will Rise Again" Allen will step into the ring with Governor Tim Kaine for a debate on energy and the environment, hosted by the Environmental Committee of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Governor Kaine and former Governor and U.S. Senator Allen will each represent their party's Presidential candidate in the debate, hosted by MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell.

Some of you might be thinking, "The McCain campaign chose this racist clown to represent them in a key battleground state?" And while I wish I could insert a satirical reason why George Allen is a good surrogate for the McCain campaign, the fact is the guy is a disaster and his choice is a pretty good example of just how bad things have gotten here in Virginia for John McCain.

Norah O'Donnell had better watch out though, if she gets too tough with George Felix she may end up find herself on the unfriendly end of a "welcome to America..."

It seems Allen IS the perfect guy to represent the republicans (Pain - 10/7/2008 10:29:13 AM)

Noose tying, confederate flag waving, mailbox deer-head stuffin, racist.  Fits right in.

this is just too funny...

yes, please drag George Allen back out for Virginia to witness.

Allen is a joke (Eric - 10/7/2008 10:56:18 AM)
and I can't see him helping his party, but I'm not sure Kaine is our best representative for energy and (especially) the environment.  Gov Kaine may be a great pick to represent Obama because of their relationship, but Kaine's pro-coal, pro-Dominion, "that's just the way it is" approach to E&E makes him a questionable pick at best for this topic.

Hey...I've seen George Allen debate. (John Carter - 10/7/2008 11:58:18 AM)
It was prior to the Robb-Allen Senate battle, and unfortunately Allen cleaned Robb's clock.  This was almost a year before the election, and I remember leaving with the feeling that Robb was in trouble. (He was.)

It's not that Allen is mentally agile, he isn't.  That is his debating strength.  I've never seen someone so relentlessly on message.  He was all attack and never had to back up.

Of course, we know Allen's macaca moment very well, but I'm not sure how deeply it has steeped into the public at large.  It was enough to jump start Jim Webb's campaign and just barely, get him across the finish line.

Tim Kaine won't be bringing up "macaca".  Hopefully, the press will add it as a parenthetical comment in each of their stories.

And of course...we can remind people every chance we get.

I agree that this is not necessarily good for Dems. (Tiderion - 10/7/2008 12:06:06 PM)
I am also afraid that this will help Allen come back into Virginian or national politics. Given enough time, all scandals seem insignificant. If nothing else, Allen will be able to influence issues.

Careful, careful.

Allen Return (bertholland - 10/7/2008 3:52:27 PM)
Count on it.  This nitwit will be back.  Who else do the Republicans have? The Kilgores?
