My friends, I've had hundreds of town hall meetings around this country for many, many years and I've got to say, thanks to you and to you and to you this is one of the more impactful and emotional town hall meetings I've ever had. Maybe it's because a women's town hall.
Wow -- how condescending. A women's town hall is more "emotional" than an town hall with men in it? I'm sure woman appreciate being called "emotional" by a 72-year old man with a history of making offensive comments about women.
As Ambers notes, it'll be hard for McCain's campaign to play the "sexism" card after a quote like that.

The ladies liked his remark (Teddy - 10/4/2008 11:40:12 AM)
and applauded. But then, these are no doubt the same women who think a self-styled hockey mom is fully prepared to be President of the United States, are convinced Barack Obama is anti-women, and McCain is a total hero who, having been a POW, has all the experience and wisdom necessary to have his finger on the red button (of course, rumors of his impulsive rages are simply typical distortions by the liberal media). They all are still in thrall to 19th century stereotypes about gender, race, and class---- of course, women are emotional men are rational, and vive la difference!
He's excited (Ingrid - 10/4/2008 2:17:34 PM)
And really very creepy.
Good grief (Teddy - 10/4/2008 3:33:44 PM)
Ingrid, where was this clip taken? By barracuda I assume he's referring to Governor Palin with her toothy smile?

What I find extremely disturbing also, even, again..., is that a lot of republican males (including, it seems, McCain himself), find her "hot". I am sure you've seen coverage of Rich Lowry's article and comments. Sick, sick, sick!!
I admit it, there is a certain fascination with what is clearly the dominatrix personna so clearly presented here. In their intra-party talk (of which I sometimes get a whiff, still being on some old mailing lists) I would swear it sounds as if the Republican Party is pimping for Palin. At my age, I feel free to say so.
Doesn't he sound like the Penguin? (Great Blue - 10/4/2008 8:57:30 PM)
Heh?
This is what I don't understand... (hallcr3 - 10/4/2008 5:36:34 PM)
If these comments were coming from someone other than McCain who has a history of sexist remarks, would they still be wrong? In other words, what is wrong with women being more emotionally expressive than men and us, as a society, accepting that fact?
In a way, it's sort of sexist for us to imply that "being emotional" is a negative trait. I'm definitely not a McCain supporter, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and consider his comments to be a positive characteristic of an all-woman town hall meeting.
I know McSame has a history of sexist comments, but c'mon, this one's a stretch.
