Mason-Dixon: Mark Warner Up 26 Points

Mason-Dixon's latest poll provide more evidence for what we've known a looong time: Mark Warner will cream Jim Gilmore by 20-30 points (standard disclaimer: do NOT take this as any kind of signal to relax or ease off your efforts, as we've got tons of work to do over the next 4 weeks) and become Virginia's next U.S. Senator. Yesterday's debate, in which Jim Gilmore was completely incoherent in attacking Mark Warner (and President Bush, Jim Webb and John Warner) for supporting the economic rescue package passed overwhelmingly yesterday, yet offering no alternative plan of his own, put the last nail in the coffin for Governor "Drove the State into a Fiscal Ditch." Brilliant!
So, now that Mark Warner has effectively wrapped up his race against Jim Gilmore, I look forward to seeing him turn his full attention to winning Virginia for Barack Obama -- and of course boosting as many of our Democratic congressional candidates to victory as possible. I specifically look forward to him stumping for all of these people, and also turning his campaign into one giant GOTV operation for Democrats up and down the ticket. If it works, if Warner uses his own popularity to help carry the Commonwealth for Barack Obama, and helps Democrats pick up 2, 3, even 4 House seats, Warner will be hailed as one of Virginia Democrats' all-time greatest heroes, and also a rising national political superstar. The only downside is that "Mark Warner is God" would have to call himself something different, like "Mark Warner is Even More Powerful Than God." Or something. Ha, just kidding. :) Go Mark Warner!

The Gilmore-Warner debate held last night will be rebroadcast tomorrow [Sunday] morning on NBC4 at 7am.
I haven't seen it, but I'm recording it tomorrow. Should be worth a few giggles.
Definitely! (Lowell - 10/4/2008 8:30:49 AM)
Jim Gilmore is always good for that, if nothing else. :)
