Cantor doesn't get promoted

Eric Cantor (now Chief Deputy Whip) has been gunning for the Majority Whip slot because Roy Blunt (the current Majority Whip) was gunning to become the new House majority leader. Both men seemed poised to move up the food chain. Not so fast:

But GOP members on Thursday elected Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, to the leadership job instead, and Blunt plans to keep his old job.

Oh well. But don't fret, Eric. Plenty of time for the newest majority leader to go the way of the last one, given Boehner's track record.
