How can voters actually support this ticket? This interview is worse than the one with "Charlie".

Sarah Palin: Idiot (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 3:13:27 PM)
Ingrid, I'll one up you:

oops (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 3:14:50 PM)
I see that JPTERP beat me to this clip in another thread.

Still, nearly unbelievable.

Her answer is an absolute mind-bender . . . (JPTERP - 9/25/2008 3:47:34 PM)
Pretty much all of the CBS interview clips so far have been train-wrecks, but that one in particular is just absolutely nasty.  You can even see her trying to get away with reading her talking points.  She's not even referring to her notes for facts and figures -- the kind of thing that I could see a person not bothering to commit to memory -- she's referring to the sheet for talking points.

I'm reminded of the Lincoln saying: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

I understand now why McCain wants to cancel the debates.

When she starts "seguing" into the trade stuff (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 4:25:03 PM)
the look on Couric's face is priceless.

I mean, she didn't even TRY and offer a reason (to a very good and legitimate question by Couric) as to why it's okay to bail out Wall Street (excuse me, "invest to increase liquidity") but NOT to invest in American infrastructure and social programs that benefit average Americans. She just pivoted right into a whole litany of right-wing nonsense talking points ... it was as if her brain was trying to spit them out faster than her mouth could keep up with.

They just can't have her on the same stage with Joe Biden. It would be a meltdown of epic proportions. They'll find a way to cancel the debates, or at least not show up, because it's the only chanc they have.

This woman is just completely unqualified and unfit for this office. The whole country will know that now, and McCain's gamble will have turned out snake eyes.

They may replace her (Ingrid - 9/25/2008 4:54:10 PM)
at the last minute. Another distraction. We can expect anything from McCain's campaign.

She's a disaster (Lowell - 9/25/2008 5:00:05 PM)
but can they afford to replace her?  Wouldn't the core conservative base go nuts?

The base (Ingrid - 9/25/2008 5:02:49 PM)
I think that the base will still vote for McCain without Palin. She has excited them. Depending on who the replacement is, McCain may lose moderates and maybe some independents.  Either way, Obama will win this election.

Yup (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 5:09:08 PM)
The right has a field day with the whole 'victim complex'. They'll treat this as an insult to them personally that one of their own got crucified by the dread 'librul media', and work to avenge her.

There's still a lot of work to be done, especially for us in Virginia (still the most pivotal state in the election in my eyes), but this trainwreck and nonsense and pageantry and hullabaloo is going to open a lot of independents' and undecideds' eyes our way. We need to grab 'em when they appear and work like mad to bring 'em home.

Trade is only an opportunity (relawson - 9/25/2008 5:19:24 PM)
If your trading partners buy more from you than you do from them - or at least have some similance of balance.

Of course, the economic theory of this crowd (which is now coming back to bite us) is that imbalances are OK since you can always print more money.

Palin links Iraq to 9/11 (Lowell - 9/25/2008 5:21:21 PM)

WTF?  Even the Bush Administration has denied that there was any connection between Iraq and 9/11. As anyone connected to fact-based reality knows, Saddam Hussein headed a secular, Ba'athist, pan-Arab, nationalistic regime in a majority Shi'a country. Al Qaeda is a fundamentalist, pan-Islamic, Sunni group. To put it mildly, Saddam and 9/11 could not have had LESS in common than they did. In fact, they were enemies.

Great googly-moogly (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 5:27:09 PM)
I know I'd read that she had made these types of remarks ... but to actually see it in real time is breathtaking.

Absolutely unrepentant ignorance and idiocy. Astounding. George W. Bush without the seasoning.

I am enjoying this! (Ingrid - 9/25/2008 5:28:51 PM)
Here she is, Sarah at Ground Zero in NY, speaking extemporaneously:

"Every American student needs to come through this area so that, especially this younger generation of Americans, to be in a position of never forgetting what happened here and never repeating, never allowing a repeat of what happened here. I wish every American would come through here. I wish every world leader would come through here, and understand what it is that took place here and, more importantly, how America came together and united to commit to never allowing this to happen again. And just to hear from and see these good New Yorkers who are rebuilding not just this but are helping to rebuild America has been very, very inspiring and encouraging. These are the good Americans who are committed to peace and security, and it's been an absolute honor getting to meet these folks today."

"Well it certainly does" (hereinva - 9/25/2008 5:39:17 PM)
Confirms our hunches.
