Earlier this week a customer at a local gun show in Fredericksburg was inspecting a rifle he was considering purchasing when the gun "accidentally" fired. Immediately following the weapon discharging "a group of plainclothes police officers raced to the nearby table, confiscated a just-fired .308 rifle and then hustled a vendor off the floor." The vendor "was charged with willfully discharging a firearm in a public place. He was issued a summons and released on his own recognizance."
"Taylor said Hackworth had handed the rifle to a potential buyer at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday....The customer aimed the weapon toward the ceiling, pulled the trigger, and surely was stunned when it fired a live round.""Apparently somebody didn't do the best job of checking the chamber before putting it out on display," Pinkard said. "Fortunately, no one was hurt."
The story is via the Free Lance Star.
Apparently this man is held to a different standard than Republican Delegate Jack Reid who "accidentally" fired his hand gun inside of his capital office building last week. In Delegate Reid's case there were certainly no arrests made.
The second story is via The Richmond Democrat, J.C. Wilmore:
Wilmore has been thoroughly investigating last week's story on Republican Delegate Jack Reid firing his handgun inside his capital office building during the work day. His past headlines include: "Is Delegate Jack Reid telling the truth about his gun 'accident' ?" and "An open letter to Kel-Tec CNC Industries Inc.". But the most intriguing is his most recent story "Did Delegate Jack Reid lie to the General Assembly and the public?". The story is based on an email he received from Kel-Tec CNC Industries that says Jack Reid's story is a lie:
Subject : Re: Reliability and Safety of Kel-Tec's P-3AT Pistol DesignThank you for your email.
There was obviously a round already in the chamber as it would be impossible for the gun to fire as described. The gun would not have fired simply by ejecting the magazine.
It is impossible that the gun accidentally fired as described by Mr. Reid.
Have a great day!www.Kel-Tec.com
Wilmore's conclusion: "Yes, I believe Delegate Jack Reid lied to the General Assembly and the public"
Members of the General Assembly have a constitutional immunity from arrest while they are in session.

That's teriffic that you would consider running for office. We certainly need to challenge many of these established incumbents who have gone unchallenged for way too long.
You got me thinking about the district so I did a little research (you probably already know this). Reid has run unopposed for at least the last two election cycles and Kilgore won 22 of the 23 precincts last election. Tough road ahead but he needs to be challenged!
