Judy Feder, Barbara Favola to Join Local Dems in front of McCain's HQ to Blast McCain's New Call to Let Health Insurance Companies Run WildWhile markets reel from disastrous Bush-McCain economic policies, Republican nominee now wants to gamble with Americans' health care on Wall Street
Washington, DC - In light of this week's Wall Street upheaval, today Judy Feder, Democratic nominee for US Representative from Virginia's 10th Congressional District, Barbara Favola, Vice Chair of the Arlington County Board and a member of Virginia's State Health Board, and area Democrats will hold a press conference outside of John McCain's campaign headquarters to challenge McCain's new magazine article calling for the deregulation of the health insurance companies "just as we have done over the last decade in banking." McCain's article was just published in the September/October issue of Contingencies, the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. In spite of the unprecedented crisis created by Bush-McCain deregulatory policies, McCain wants to put Americans' health care at the mercy of Wall Street.
The text of McCain's call for deregulating health insurance companies follows:
"Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation." - John McCainWho: Judy Feder, Democratic nominee for US Representative from Virginia's 10th Congressional District
