A Prayer for Barack Obama

I just got a message from a friend. It's kind of like a chain letter, but I think it's really extraordinary.
Subject: Barack Obama
Let's keep the prayer going.
Dear God,
I pray for optimum health, wisdom, mental clarity and political prosperity for Barack Obama, and for his protection, as he seeks to become our President!
Amen.
I can't think of another candidate who has inspired Democrats so deeply and profoundly. As champions of the First Amendment, Democrats tend to shy away from overt discussions of religion. Still, America is a nation of faith and this Obama candidacy has inspired a new generation to spiritual awakening.
It's very new to my experience as a political activist. As Obama continues to point back to the pre-eminent American values of empathy, aspiration, and responsibility, he seems to also be pointing us back to that core spiritual value, long betrayed by the conservative era: Grace. Change is gonna do us good.

A Christian prayer for our Nation. (Bubby - 9/17/2008 3:34:14 PM)
God commands us through Jesus Christ to love one another. In baptism, we promise to "seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves and to strive for justice and peace, and respect the dignity of every human being." Let us now honor those vows and pray for our nation in this election season, for wise and just leaders, and for the needs of others throughout our country and the world.

I feel this is the time that our Higher Powers (mishanti - 9/17/2008 7:52:12 PM)
have sent a person at the most critical time in our lives and our nation's life to rescue the USA. I am not a religious person as such, but when I listen to Senator Obama or read his speeches or his thoughts about what he wants to do as President I find I get a spiritual feeling about him. I think our founding fathers were sent to the US at a time when great leaders were sorely needed and this is one of those times and the person needed. I have read diaries of people who shook Senator Obama's hand and felt his presence and that he cared about them. I have seen people tear up when they read or listen to someone who talked to him. I think this is a special man at a special time and I have full faith that there is going to be great change come January 2009 and this man will lead us.

hoping our man comes through.
that picture is so powerful, brings tears to my eyes.
