"VOTERS IN Loudoun County did themselves and their landscape a huge favor in November when they elected David E. Poisson (D) to the House of Delegates to replace Richard H. Black (R). They rejected Mr. Black's narrow views on social and economic issues and his broad embrace of those who would develop every last nook and cranny in the county. But this positive move could be negated if voters are not careful tomorrow in a special election...""[Staton] also is the son-in-law and political protege of Mr. Black. His vastly superior opponent is Democrat Mark R. Herring..."The contrast is strikingly similar to that in November."
Tomorrow's special election is between Democrat Mark Herring and Republican Mick Staton. You can still volunteer for the Herring campaign, even if you don't live in the district, by calling their headquarters at 703-669-1361.
NLS has a great rundown of the possible implications of the race's outcome.
All of the recent gains have been in the House (+8 seats in the past 4 years) while the Senate has maintained.
I have been hoping that Democrats could cut into the GOP's margin there.
