Looks like we missed this bit of news from this past Thursday:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that Congressman Bobby Scott of Virginia has been appointed to serve on the House Ethics Committee. A vacancy was created on the committee with the passing of Chairwoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. With Scott's appointment, the Committee is now fully operational.
"As a highly respected House Member, Bobby Scott brings a wealth of legal knowledge and experience to his new duties on the Ethics Committee. I am confident that his passion for justice and due process will guide his work on the committee."
Quite an honor. These are huge shoes to fill, but I think Congressman Scott's up to the task. Speaker Pelosi hit this one out of the park.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but (hallcr3 - 9/15/2008 11:24:41 AM)
Congressman Scott is running unopposed in this election cycle. Right?
That says a lot, I think.
He often runs unopposed (Susan Mariner - 9/16/2008 2:26:51 AM)
And he's running unopposed this year. Can you imagine a Republican crazy enough to run against him (he's got a majority minority district) this year? That would have been a hoot. But instead Congressman Scott is able to devote all his campaign energy to Barack Obama and Mark Warner.
Congratulations on an honor well deserved, Congressman Scott.
