Hundreds of people braved sweltering heat to show their support for Barack Obama and Joe Biden in DC today. The crowd first gathered at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue, then marched down 14th Street to Constitution Avenue. From there, we walked past the Washington Monument and the White House to the Lincoln Memorial.
The crowd's favorite chants: "O-BAMA! OH-EIGHT!" "No more lies!" and of course, "Yes we can!" It was heartening to hear hundreds of drivers honking their horns in support as we marched past.
Once we got to the Lincoln Memorial, it was hard to get a read on the size of the crowd since people scattered to shady spots. Well into the hundreds in any case. But wait, maybe I should be saying thousands rallied on the National Mall. After all, if McCain and Palin can falsely quadruple their crowd totals, why can't we? Oh, right. Because we value the truth and they don't.
UPDATE: I was interviewed by WAMU at the rally, you can listen here.
I just read that several South American countries are booting our ambassadors because they have been sponsoring coup efforts. Also, a Russian diplomat recently told an emvoy from the US to pretty much "f_k off", that is he said: "Who are you to f-king lecture me?".
Pakistan is not too happy with us, and of course millions of Muslims aren't too keen on the USA either. Thousands recently demonstrated in the streets of Bagdad asking US troops to leave this done as part of Ramadan.
Whew! I thought Bush was going to break the rest of the china before he left, but I never could visualize what it would look like.
