Jeff Frederick: Least Effective... Again
Non-partisan business group name GOP Chairman Least Effective Legislator in VirginiaThe Virginia Foundation for Research and Economic Education released its annual report on the General Assembly today, ranking state lawmakers on their business stewardship, voting percentages, and general effectiveness.
For the second time in three years, Del. Jeff Frederick ranks dead last in effectiveness, with a score of 42 out of 100 possible points (down from a 43 in 2007). That's lower than 138 legislators - Democrats and Republicans, Senators and Delegates alike. In 2006, Frederick clocked in with a rock-bottom 28 points.
"For the sake of his constituents, let's hope Jeff Frederick keeps his word to not run for re-election next year," said Levar Stoney, executive director for the Democratic Party of Virginia. "A fresh face in his seat will finally give eastern Prince William County the advocate it needs in Richmond."Virginia FREE also took House Republicans to task for continuing their practice of killing bills in unrecorded subcommittee votes. In January, the GOP majority defeated a measure from Del. Ken Plum (D-Fairfax) that would have required such votes to be recorded.
According to survey's methodology, "The Effectiveness rating is the result of an annual survey of Virginia FREE member governmental affairs professionals to determine, in their informed opinions, how effective each legislator is in accomplishing his or her objectives in the legislature - without regard to the legislator's position on business issues.
"To determine the Effectiveness Rating, Virginia FREE member government affairs professionals are asked to complete a confidential, anonymous survey in which they rate the level of effectiveness of each legislator on a 10-point scale from 10-100 where 100 represents extremely effective. The results of all survey forms are averaged to determine each legislator's Effectiveness Rating."

Also, why am I not surprised that this man is leading the Republicans in this state? I guess we're lucky as Democrats that the Republicans are allergic to bright, talented political thinkers.
In the years since, John lost a Republican gubernatorial nominating contest to Jim Gilmore and his party's chairmanship to this bone-headed nitwit.
Even as an optimistic Democrat, I don't think I could've argued with a straight face that not only were his party's crazies exponentially crazier but that within a few short years the inmates would actually take over the asylum. I'm not sure whether it's a tragedy or a comedy, but I do have to admit I've rather enjoyed watching it.
