I'm still not sure why she wanted to have the librarian removed.  Did the librarian simply not move quickly enough to ban the books or was there something else?  I find this whole issue confusing.

Google "Ann Kilkenny" and find out (Bubby - 9/11/2008 6:14:24 PM)
Kilkenny is one of those rare citizens that attend their local town council meetings, inform themselves, and get involved.  She lives in Wasilla, Alaska.  She documents in a narrative what kind of a politician Sarah Palin really is, and why people call her Sarah Cheney.

digg it

Just saw the Charlie Gibson initial Palin Interview... (ub40fan - 9/11/2008 7:12:40 PM)
Me and Matt Damon are even more afraid... that this Christo-facist incompetent could be a heart-beat away from the Presidency.

Yikes!!  As Palin might say .... God help us!!!

Control freak (Kindler - 9/11/2008 9:23:05 PM)
From all I've heard so far, she sounds like a major control freak.  Do what I say or you're fired!

If she becomes Commander in Chief, what will she try to do to the Federal workforce?  To the military?  To the diplomatic corps?  One spiteful person with power can wreak a lot of havoc.

Be Very Afraid (AnonymousIsAWoman - 9/12/2008 9:28:02 AM)
Kindler's right.  Palin never specified which books she thought should be banned so nobody really knows what she intended.  The issue was that the librarian stood up to her and said she absolutely wouldn't ban a book.

You don't cross Sarah Palin in Alaska.  Not if you work for the local or state government and want to keep your job.  And yes, federal employees are already worried about that.  Now, to scare you more, John McCain thinks our U.S. Merchant Marine service should be outsourced.  I'll have more details on that - I don't think there are links, this will be original research so it will take a little time.

Under Bush-Cheney there's been a trend to outsource a lot of functions that were historically performed by the military, such as security, to private contractors.  I suspect that will accelerate under McCain-Palin.  What makes that dangerous is that we're basically talking about mercenaries with no accountability to the public in military and security positions.

I would be very afraid.  In fact, I am very afraid.

seen the movie Footloose? (sammi fredenburg - 9/13/2008 12:34:35 AM)
. . . . . that's a book-banning from the mindset of the background that she has.  i've been there . . . . . you don't ask questions, you just do what spiritual leadership says.  and should she become commander in chief it could be very scary.  even if she doesn't, consider this list that came out from MoveOn today:

http://pol.moveon.org/mccain10...

our local library has a banned book month with a whole double shelf dedicated to the books that have been recommended for banning or that schools and churches have declared banned.  among them are Harry Potter, Shakespeare, The Bible, Hellboy, Alice in Wonderland, War and Peace, Tom Sawyer . . . so many more good books.  just pathetic.
