Now we are on a roll.

OK, this is seriously whacked (aznew - 9/8/2008 8:30:45 PM)
Apparently, when Palin was mayor of Wasilla, the state charged victims of sexual assault for their forensic tests.

From a story in Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman about Alaska Governor Tony Knowles signing a law saying the state wold pick up the tab for forensic rape kits:

While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.

Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.

In the past weve charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible. I just dont want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer, Fannon said.

According to Fannon, the new law will cost the Wasilla Police Department approximately $5,000 to $14,000 a year to collect evidence for sexual assault cases.

Please, Please, Please (IBelieveInHenryHowell - 9/8/2008 9:06:14 PM)
Can we have more of this!!!

Wait just a gosh darned minute, they might be "Mavericks" after all... (Gaudiumike - 9/8/2008 9:19:09 PM)
I recall a television show about a couple of Mavericks who blazed through a bunch of small towns out west and gambled to get rich.  They were masters of sleight of hand and clever talk.  Sometimes they won big. And sometimes they had to high tail it outta town. Sure as the setting sun that ol' McCain and his new sidekick Palin are trying to pull the wool over our eyes with their own sleight of hand and clever talk.

This is good, but... (Kindler - 9/8/2008 9:38:20 PM)
...this election is about the economy and that's what the Democrats should be repeating as their mantra once again: IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!

I mean in a couple of days, you had the jobless rate go over 6% -- highest in 5 years -- and Fannie and Freddie get taken over by the government in an eerie echo of the Great Depression.

McCain and Palin combined have ZERO credibility on the economy.  This is the number one issue to voters and that's where their message should focus -- like a laser.

Yes, time to go on the offensive (Lowell - 9/8/2008 9:53:33 PM)
on the economy, the "rich get richer/poor get poorer/middle class gets squeezed," etc.

I'd also use highlights from those "ordinary people" (Lowell - 9/8/2008 9:55:10 PM)
who spoke the last night of the Democratic convention for advertising purposes. Those people were awesome, better than 95% of the politicians who speechified!

Yes, but... (Rob - 9/8/2008 10:39:22 PM)
... they need to nail McCain on his attempt to be the "reform" candidate.  This is a "change" election, and Obama CANNOT afford to let McCain to succeed in pretending that he's the change candidate.

Good start . . . (JPTERP - 9/8/2008 9:40:44 PM)
McCain-Palin though can be hammered.

In addition McCain-Palin dishonesty why not talk about the bank failures that McCain has helped to facilitate?

'No Longer Available' (Barbara - 9/8/2008 10:43:03 PM)
Why is the video no longer available (also not available on his website).

I think YouTube is down. (Rob - 9/8/2008 11:18:59 PM)
It's doing that with every video.

It is working now (Hugo Estrada - 9/9/2008 7:07:08 AM)

Medieval is as medieval does (FMArouet21 - 9/8/2008 10:56:39 PM)

I'd like to see ads with a quick recitation and mocking of some of the more extreme views of McCain and/or Palin, such as their (especially her):

--Opposition to sex education beyond just abstinence

--Opposition to contraception

--Opposition to all abortions, even when the pregnancy has resulted from rape or incest

--Forcing rape victims to pay for their own rape examinations, as Palin's own  police chief did in Wasilla, Alaska

--Advocating raping the environment rather than managing and preserving it for future generations

--Denying that global warming even exists

--Rejecting the overwhelming scientific evidence for evolution

--Support for teaching creationism in science classes

--One has to wonder what views McCain and Palin hold about teaching astrology, shamanism, or flat-earth theories.

Punch line: If their thinking is still stuck in the 12th century, how could they possibly hope to lead America in the 21st century?

Obama ads (Wash99 - 9/9/2008 8:41:53 AM)
I agree totally with FMArouet21. Palin's beliefs and potential policies are out of the mainstream and are fair game for public scrutiny.  And we don't have time to waste.

They're not just "out of the mainstream" (Lowell - 9/9/2008 8:46:21 AM)
They're so extreme they're not even in a stream at all, more like out to sea somewhere...utterly bizarre, the most radical right-wing candidate ever by a major national party for president of VP?
