Yesterday, Mark Warner when he was giving the keynote speech, a copy of it got out a few hours in advance here and the bloggers were really upset. And I heard that the speech was actually tinkered with a little bit because the bloggers were already talking about how upset they were that he wasn't taking on John McCain. And so the campaign quickly made some changes in the speech to be able to make it more aggressive.
I contacted Mark Warner's press secretary, Kevin Hall, for comment on Ben's report, and he sent me the following on-the-record response:
You know, we like working with the blogger community and try to pay attention to what folks are talking about. But there is absolutely no truth to that statement.
So, there you have it: Ben's account and the Warner campaign's response. Never a dull moment, huh?
P.S. By the way, the reason I haven't fully embedded Ben's video is that SoapBlox is having some sort of code problem and won't accept "iframes" (whatever THEY are!). Don't ask, in other words, but I've gotta say all this technology can really get annoying at times.
