They wanted to build a mega-superstore on the historical site of George Washington's childhood home. Naturally, the town of Fredericksburg said no.
So, Wal-Mart flexed their muscles and threatened the community.
According to the Free-Lance Star:
The 142,000-square-foot store it proposes could be as devastating as anything Grant unleashed. The site, near State Routes 3 and 20, lies irreverently within a quarter-mile of the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park. Also, Wal-Mart's site plan includes four pads for 'junior big boxes.'"
We can't let Wal-Mart invade Fredericksburg. I'm going to go sign up at WakeUpWalmart.com to fight this threat.
