I am very proud to announce that my friend and fellow Blue Star Family Member for Obama, Beth Robinson, will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention tonight during the 9:00pm EDT hour.  Beth lives in Chesapeake.  She will be speaking primetime, after President Clinton and before Senator Kerry.
From the Virginian Pilot this AM:

Beth Robinson, who was invited last week by Sen. Barack Obama's campaign, plans to speak on behalf of military wives and families. Robinson's husband, Matt, is a Marine who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Robinson has multiple sclerosis and has said that she plans to talk about healthcare.

Beth is an amazing person.  She and her husband were high school sweethearts and have been married for almost 12 years.  They have a beautiful 18 month old daughter.  Beth has never been involved with politics before, but she's volunteering this year because she believes that Senator Obama is the best candidate to help military families and to address our country's healthcare crisis.

Like the other Blue Star Families for Obama members, Beth is pro-military and pro-Obama.

Very important note -- If you haven't done so, please sign up to attend a Convention Watch Party in Virginia tomorrow to see Senator Obama accept the nomination!  The Obama campaign wants to have as many Virginia residents at Convention Watch Parties as possible http://my.barackobama.com/page...

Thank you,

Susan Mariner

Please watch CSPAN right after Bill Clinton speaks! (Susan Mariner - 8/27/2008 7:41:09 PM)
Our own Beth Robinson will speak immediately after President Clinton.  Imagine that pressure!

To be sure you don't miss Beth, please tune into the only station that doesn't feature talking heads, CSPAN.

Can't wait to see her make us proud!

She was brilliant (Josh - 8/27/2008 10:27:20 PM)
Beth did such a fabulous job and the audience loved her.

Beth is an incredible person (Susan Mariner - 8/27/2008 11:39:10 PM)
What a heart she has.  We really didn't see the audience reaction on TV, but I immediately wrote to her that I'm sure folks everywhere saw how amazing she was.  Michelle Obama loves Beth too, which was obvious from her expression while Beth spoke.  They spent time together when Michelle came to Norfolk for a roundtable with military spouses.  Beth has MS, and Michelle's father died from complications of MS.

Great job, Beth!  We're so proud of you.

And is everybody else as in love with Michelle Obama as I am?  What a first lady she will be.

Well said Susan (Shawn - 8/28/2008 12:12:32 AM)
Thanks for the heads up too ... I watched Beth on c-span and I thought it said a lot about her, her family, and the sacrifices our military and their families are making ... the obvious empathy on Michelle Obama's face made me wonder ... if we get Barack Obama elected President ... will her story would lead Michelle to become a strong advocate for our military and their families

Absolutely (Susan Mariner - 8/28/2008 1:25:56 AM)
I know with every fiber of my being that Michelle Obama will be a strong advocate for military families.  Michelle has been talking with military spouses across the country, and she has really come to understand the depth of sacrifice military families make and the specific challenges they face.  Michelle really understands, and she really cares.  Military families will have no stronger friend than First Lady Michelle Obama.
