When she first heard Barack Obama speak at a rally for Jim Webb in 2006, her life changed for good.
After listening to Bush for 4 years, it was so inspiring to hear someone talk about getting young people involved. Like a lot of others, I really took it to heart.
Bridgit herself can be very inspiring. The story of how she earned her spot as a Delegate in Denver has become legend. Fellow 8th CD delegate and grassroots volunteer Chrisi West tells the story.
We were at the District convention and there were all of these amazing activists, party people, and the full slate who had done so much and been involved for years. Then, Bridgit went on stage and her speech just blew everyone away. She was so passionate, so full of life. I think everyone saw in her the embodiment of Hope and Responsibility that we see in Obama. We knew she just had to go to Denver.
Now Bridgit is the volunteer coordinator for Fairfax with the Coordinated Campaign. This year Fairfax turnout could determine not only the outcome of Virginia, but the Presidency itself. Bridgit Donnelly is right at the heart of that.
"The field operation is really strong in NOVA", she tells me. "The coordinated is doing direct contact and Obama is handling voter registration." "The biggest challenge for us has always been making sure we have enough people to handle the demand. We now have a field organizer for each Mag (Magesterial) District for each group, we're working great together. People are so psyched, you have to make sure you have the support to handle it. Now that we do, we're ready in Fairfax and we're going to deliver."
