The party was to highlight the continuing efforts to rebuild New Orleans.I stayed there for a little while and enjoyed the blues music and great New Orleans food. But I wanted to try out my new floor credentials. So I took my leave of the South Dakota delegation and walked about 6 blocks over to the Pepsi Center to see the convention floor first hand. While I was there they were working on the video and sound feeds, and just generally putting the finishing touches on the Convention floor. For me it really didn't hit home that I was really AT the Convention until I walked onto that floor. Let me tell you there was an ear to ear smile plastered on my face.
There is a lot of energy and excitement here in Denver. There was a lot people in the Downtown area, and more are coming to town as I speak. The outside of the Convention Center reminded my of a rock concert in a small way. There were street vendors selling pro and con Obama shirts, buttons, and bumper stickers. Although I did miss out on some booths that were set up near the Convention but I'll be checking them out tomorrow. That is just a taste of the atmosphere here in Denver...
