http://www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=43626"We need to relieve the burden on the VA from routine health care," McCain told the National Forum on Disability Issues last month. "If you have a routine health care need, take it wherever you want, whatever doctor or health care provider and get the treatment you need, while we at the VA focus our attention, our care, our love, on these grievous wounds of war."
I'm not opposed to giving veterans the option of vouchers if they aren't close to a VA, but this is nothing more than trying to abdocate the responsibility of taking care of our veterans.
We all know what happens when private industry takes over traditional government functions - corners get cut to generate profits. I don't believe our veterans deserve to have corners cut when it comes to their healthcare.
Senator Webb is a strong ally of veterans. I hope he speaks up loudly against John McCain's desire to outsource that to the lowest bidder.
