Let that one sink in a minute.
Yes, Hillary Clinton is still in debt from her intensely negative campaign against Barack Obama. I think we all remember the final month or so when she went deep into the red even though she loaned herself a couple million here and there. Well, she still wants your money.
A recent article on CNN's ticker, found here, talks about some of the fun issues of how Clinton still needs to make about $25 million to pay off her debt, $13 million of which she loaned to herself. Hillary and Bill are hard at work to get the word out and scrap together a couple bucks.
My favorite line from the article is from Lynn Forrester, who said:
"He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama," she said. "Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It's ungracious."I think it is worth noting that Lynn Forrester is a billionaire. But seriously, what have the Clintons done for Obama? Stepped aside months after they logically should have because they mathematically couldn't win? I know that campaigns frequently go into debt in advance and make up for it later (or not), but something reminds me of the life lesson that you really should not spend money you do not have.
Many commentators are asking,
Where are those 18 million supporters now? Perhaps they should all donate one dollar to retire the debt.
Why is all that PUMA money going to continuing the attacks on Obama when it could be going to paying off all those vendors who are out of luck right now?It seems as though many Obama supporters have contributed something to help out Hillary in attempt to show good faith toward party unity. Hillary seemed to have run a bad campaign that was mismanaged and overspent. The campaign is the first leadership position a politician can truly be rated on and she failed spectacularly. It's just silly to blame Obama when his supporters were clearly willing to put up. If Hillary's supporters won't put up then by rule they should shut up.
