Mark Warner was Virginia's Governor from 2002 until January 2006. His administration took $6 billion in budget shortfalls, and changed it to a surplus that allowed the largest single investment in K-12 education in Virginia history, and a reinvestment in one of the nation's premier public college and university systems.
In 2002, Governor Warner held the first statewide outreach conference for Virginia's Latino community. The conference focused on the unique challenges facing the community, as well as how the Commonwealth could more effectively deliver educational and social services to this growing population. He also appointed a liaison to the Latino community as part of his constituent service staff and created a first-ever Latino Advisory Council that met periodically to advise the Governor and his cabinet on issues of concern.
As our US Senator, Governor Warner will bring transformative change to our national energy policy, help lead the fight to fix our country's health care system, bring our brave military men and women home from Iraq, and bring investment in our education system to best help our children be competitive in the world's economy.
These issues are important to our community. Let's support Governor Warner so can continue to expand opportunities for our families and our Commonwealth.
