Greg Lettique approves of the UU Knoxville murders/terrorism???

I happened to stumble upon a post about Mimi and her Howling Latina blog on BVBL.  Mimi’s got real issues with Senator Obama and posted a “questionable” graphic.  Now I’ve had some real issues with her failure to accept the primary process, but hey it’s her blog.  She does seem to be in denial, but that’s her issue.

My issue is that there is a blog in Manassas, that has a fair amount of readers, that’s advising the faithful it’s ok to kill people if you don’t agree with thier ideas and values.

Greg Lettique takes Mimi’s post about a few bloggers (presumably “Lefties”) wanting their blogs removed from her blog roll as proof that Democrats are the spawn of the devil, yadda, yadda.  Sort of expected, but then I read the last paragraph and just about spun off into the ether.  This direct quote is from this post…

The implosion of the left will only continue with these demands for orthodoxy.  You can ultimately herd leftists no more easily than you can herd cats, unless of course deadly force is on the menu of coercive methodologies that can be employed.

So close to the Knoxville murders.  So painful to so many.  Is it any wonder that the Atkinson’s of the world storm into a UU sanctuary or an Amish worship house with the intent to act on their paranoia?

This kind of hate is similar to, oh I don’t know, you tell me.  What is the point of this other than to validate and incite hate and violence.  I’m no rocket surgeon, but I know what deadly force is. Is this a veiled threat?  And don’t give me that {wink} {wink} can’t you take a joke.  This is just wrong.  Killing people for their ideas?  Maiming humans because of what they believe?

Mimi’s post pales in comparison to these vile words.

This is about people’s lives.

I consider myself a progressive, but since I’ve been accused by Greg in the past of being one of these lefties (In Greg’s mind, the un-pure I suspect) I guess I could be adversely affected by this advice to his faithful as well.

In the Pledge of Allegiance there are those very powerful words, “…with liberty and justice for all.”  I believe in those words, I don’t just say them.  I suspect that each of us needs to assess whether we really believe them or not.

I could care less about Mimi’s blog, but Greg’s statement is a direct attack on my family.  I will protect my family…

It will only get worse (Bubby - 8/5/2008 10:55:41 AM)
After November when little losers like Lettique become big losers in a very tangible way. 'Course by then we'll be back on the way to the rule of law.

how to address Greg (teacherken - 8/6/2008 11:50:18 AM)
find a post where he called Obama a leftie

print out that post and this one and send it to the Secret Service, asking whether this rises to the level of a threat against a protected person.

As a UU that's against the rightwing wackos (presidentialman - 8/7/2008 1:21:23 AM)
I think, that a rightwing blog that is in the shadow of left wing blogs like DailyKos,Raising Kaine etc., etc, that's not even a main rightwing blog but an individual person, that doesn't explicitly say damn those UUs, I am happy to let him sound off. What I'm looking for, are the talkshow radio hosts like O'Reilly, Limbaugh and others, who are nationally known righties saying, "serves those Unitarians right by being against guns and for gays and against Christ, cause UU's are really glad Christ was crucified." Are they that stupid , in making an issue to divert from McCain's campaign?  Part of me is like how dare they if they did, while another half saying, Please, Please, let's put a face on Republican Intolerance, which is why right after the shooting, I searched for righties reaction. I have not found any thus far.  Let's pick our battles carefully.

There is already plenty of evidence of incitement to violence and hate. (Bubby - 8/7/2008 2:10:10 PM)
And just so you understand; whether it was Rwanda, Bosnia, or Nazi Germany the broadcast media pimped the hate, and then cheered on the killing.  You've already been warned of their intentions, and the dehumanized stereotypes have been constructed.  The battle has begun.  The mission is now to control the direction and pace of that battle. Don't be roadkill.

all our battles start at home (bruce roemmelt - 8/7/2008 10:56:22 AM)
P-Man,

good points about the national righties who are adding the primary fuel to the fire, but i have a personal bias for starting at home.

Manassas and PWC aren't huge but that's where i live.  i go to church at Church and Main.  i see the effects on my brothers and sisters in TN and want to raise awareness right here in River City.  it only takes one nut job who is empowered by this public hate to act, and the results will be tragic.

all politics are local and when the presidental is over, and all the federal voters disappear, what will be left is just us, the folks who keep the campfires burning till the next election.

we gotta change that, and it starts locally.  there are right blogs that don't spew hate and violence, but we gotta stand up for ourselves.  KOS and Olberman can take on Papa Bear, but i'm about making my home safe.

be well,

b
