WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN PRINCE WILLIAM ON APRIL 29?
Filmmakers Promise Answers in Politically Charged ScreeningWHAT: Press screening of "9500Liberty 2008"
WHEN: Wednesday, July 9th GÇó 12:30 PM
WHERE: Bull Run Unitarian Church GÇó 9350 Main Street GÇó Manassas, VA 20111
WHO: Filmmakers Annabel Park and Eric Byler, Prince William County officials TBAJuly 7, 2008, Manassas, VA -- On July 9th, one day before the first anniversary of Prince William County's Immigration Resolution, 9500Liberty directors Annabel Park and Eric Byler will screen 45-minutes of footage, some of which they say is too "politically charged" to share on YouTube. County officials will be on hand to answer questions after the screening.
Park and Byler's interactive documentary has been quiet since the Board of County Supervisors' decision on April 29th to amend its immigration policy. Rather than rushing videos onto the web, they have been methodically investigating what led to the changes, conducting on-camera interviews with Board members, County staff, and the Police Department.
Byler said they are sharing key scenes from the upcoming feature-length version of 9500Liberty to "resolve lingering questions that affect the county" and explain why Board Chairman Corey Stewart and Police Chief Charlie Deane seem to contradict one another in public statements.
"Some high level officials expressed concern that a viral video would exacerbate an already volatile social climate," Park said. "Now that the tension seems to have died down, and now that we've achieved clarity about what actually happened, we decided to hold a series of screenings to share what we know."
Wednesday's 12:30 PM press screening will be held a day in advance of a highly anticipated July 10th screening at Casablanca Restaurant at 7:00 PM.
More screenings are expected in coming
days.
I would also be interested in knowing what county officials will answer questions tomorrow.
