The owner of the Hummer is a successful small business owner from Fluvanna County.
1. Tolerance for people of different religions
2. Respect for immigrants
3. Honesty
4. Helping America become energy independent
5. Supporting our soldiers
6. Not accepting campaign contributions from shady businessmen
7. Not doing a bait and switch on your constituents by running for office as a Democrat, then changing parties after you're elected.
8. Not building a wall on our borders
Ok, now I understand why Virgil had to dig farther down the list.
You began by defending Virgil's use of a Hummer by asserting it was an "American" thing to do. It isn't. It is an insensitive thing to do at a time when far too many people are having a hard time making ends meet because of the gross mismanagement of the economy by the Bush crowd.
So, to respond, I listed eight thngs that I think are "American," such as tolerence, freedom, accountability, welcoming people to our shores, that Virgil does not do.
And you respond with some right-wing laundry list of lame policy proposals and dubious assertions. To what end? What is the point?
Are you saying Tom Perriello has shown disrespect to Christians? If so, please document a single incident.
You talk of protecting what little is left of US sovereignty? What the heck does that mean? Do you really think poor hispanics crossing the border looking for a decent job threatens U.S. sovereignty? If so, you do not think much of our nation, my friend. Seriously.
Supporting soldiers? Virgil opposed the GI Bill at first because he objected to a tiny tax increase on incomes over $500,000. That shows where his priorities lay when it comes to the brave men and women in our armed forces. Millionaires? YES. Soldiers? Well, okay, as long as they don't interfere with our millionaires.
Honesty? Why don't you ask Virgil whether the Chinese are drilling off of our border, as he asserted last week. Then report back here whether he is badly misinformed or shamlessly lying.
Why don't you ask him about his assertion that 28% of all prisoners in the U.S. are illegal aliens, when that is demonstrably false?
And that is the problem with the Hummer. All these antics add up to disrespect by Virgil Goode to his constituents. Riding in a Hummer when people can't afford gasoline is just another example.
Just how long do you think people are going to stand for this kind of treatment?
I'm actually kind of glad you decided to troll here today. If this is the best that Virgil has, Tom Perriello is going to be printing up some new business cards come January. Thanks for confirming it.
