While Representative Drake rolled out the GOP answer to the transportation conundrum, gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell seemed perplexed. Maybe it was in deference to Jesse Helms that Landslide Bob paraded in a vehicle with the license "OBXLVE" at the annual Virginia Beach Fil-Am Friendship Day.
Maybe it was the realization of the symbolism of the big bag of candy at his side. Or, maybe he realized that the placement of the Republicans last in line revealed his participation in the parade was an afterthought. Those of us who regularly attend the event know that the order of appearance in the parade is first come, first served.
