I can't tell you how happy I am to see this (see the letter below). Think about it: Fairfax County has nearly 1/7 Virginia' population, so if Democratic performance is maximized there, it has huge implications for the rest of the state going "blue" this year and beyond. Fortunately, the chairman of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is doing a superb job, cranking things up in his first few months to ensure that Barack Obama, Mark Warner, and our Congressional candidates receive the maximum possible Democratic vote this November.
It's very exciting, but Scott can't do all this great work alone. Please help him by volunteering your time or by clicking here to contribute. Also, just a suggestion, but next time you see Scott, tell him what a great job he's doing! Sometimes, amazing people like Scott who step up to the plate and take on responsibilities like this are not given the appreciation they deserve. As far as I'm concerned, though, Scott Surovell rocks - go Scott! :)
It's almost June 30 and FCDC is off to a record start. If you've been by our office, you will have noticed massive changes in the last two months. What have this year's contributions done?* We've hired an Executive Director;
* We purchased a 16-line autodialer and polling machine;
* We've ordered 16-new phone lines and 2 new DSL lines;
* We've purchased 14 new PDA's;
* We've purchased 6 new computers and new monitors for old machines; and
* Our new copier/faxer/scanner/printer/binder will be requisitioned shortly.If you stop by, you'll see 12 interns working away at six new computers. They are covering all of the Farmer's Markets in Fairfax. They are helping to stage voter registration and identification canvasses this weekend. Members are phone banking every night calling for contributions. Last weekend, Fairfax Democrats knocked 6,700 doors for 5 candidates. FCDC is out doing work electing Democrats.
We've raised nearly $190,000 as of today. In the next 3 days, if we raise $10,000 it will put us over $200,000 and get us well on our way towards our goal.

Our group was elected to change things at FCDC and we're doing out best to turn it into an operation worthy of one of the biggest, wealthiest, best-educated, and increasingly Democratic counties in the United States. We've received a terrific response for our efforts.
Our Executive Director, Mike Burns, is awesome, our officers are getting things done, and we have some really terrific interns who are working their hearts out this summer to make us a better organization better capable of assisting our many Democratic candidates.
