Alexandria JJ Dinner

I was at the Alexandria JJ Dinner tonight, sitting with Teacherken at Jon Bowerbank's table. It was a long evening but a good time. Here are a few photos and notes. The first photo is of Rep. Jim Moran, with a much younger version of himself running for mayor of Alexandria. On the "flip" are more photos from the dinner, including: Rep. Jim Moran, Rep. John Conyers (the keynote speaker), several members of the General Assembly (Chap Petersen, Dick Saslaw, David Englin, Adam Ebbin, Brian Moran), and Alexandria Democratic Committee chair Susan Kellom.
Conyers commented that if we win Virginia this year, we win the national elections. He related how he had encouraged Barack Obama to run, and how his top 2 picks for Obama's running mate are Hillary Clinton (his first choice; "imagine the energy that would come if she was on the ticket") and Jim Webb ("military experience and gravitas"). He said that this is a bottom-up campaign, which means you raise more money, more volunteers, and more commitment. He predicted that this could a landslide victory this year and that "Obama's gonna eat McCain's lunch." He talked about impeaching Bush and Cheney, but alluded to the fact that there's not enough time. Still, he said we should build a record of "all the things they've done" -- violation of treaties, sanctioning of torture, illegal wiretapping of American citizens, etc.

Just kidding...
It really is time to impeach these idiots. Just think of what will happen in 40 years when the next arch-conservative ascends to the presidency and uses this as precedent to move even further.
oh, and Brian Moran with a mustache looks AWESOME!!!

the guest speaker list had Conyers, Jim Moran, was very steear.
And the price was less than other JJ dindins around northern virginia.

Sorry I didn't see you Lowell, or teacherken.
Conyers is in a league by himself, and he should really write a book about his life. I support Moran, but Conyers is a legend in Congress. I loved his impeachment talk.
