District 4: James Randy Forbes
District 6: Robert W. ?Bob? Goodlatte
District 7: Eric I. Cantor
District 10: Frank Rudolph Wolf
Of these districts, only the tenth - Frank Wolf's - was won by Tim Kaine in 2005 - 50.3% to 46.4%. Despite the district's "blue" tilt, Frank Wolf is a conservative Republican. Among other things, Wolf has a horrible environmental record, gets a zero rating from the National Abortion Reproductive Rights Action League, a zero from the Human Rights Campaign, and a 5% from the American Civil Liberties Union. This guy needs to be challenged!
As for the other districts, Kaine lost the 4th by only 1.5 percentage points in 2005, and Mark Warner won it in 2001. It would be nice to have a Democratic contender in this winnable district. Besides the 4th, districts 6 and 7 need challengers as well. Eric Cantor (7th) is moving up in the Republican leadership, and it would be great to have a Democrat highlighting Cantor's connection to Jack Abramoff and to corruption in general.
I?d appreciate any updates on these districts, including signs that Democratic challengers will emerge in the weeks to come. I sure hope they do.
Usually I'd want to have the party behind me, but some people in the party make me nervous.
