Another day, another strong endorsement for Leslie Byrne from the Virginia progressive blogosphere. First, it was pretty much all the northern Virginia bloggers endorsing Leslie Byrne, Judy Feder and Jim Moran. Now, it's our friends in the Virginia Beach area weighing in with this:
My love for Leslie Byrne was rekindled on the darkest day in Virginia history. On July 1, 2004 the Virginia Marriage Affirmation Act became law. That law was so disgusting that it literally made so many want to scream, spit, throw something, and/or punch a fist through a wall. Instead, we almost quite naturally made our way to the steps of the Fairfax County Government Center to rally and to renew our fight to rid the General Assembly from bigots. Leslie stood on the podium that day and once again truly inspired us.There is nothing wishy-washy with Leslie Byrne. She grabs a particular issue by the horns and never gives up. Virginia can thank her for institution of a number of smart-growth legislation that she fought tooth-in-nail against developers to get in. I can imagine her again with that same repulsion in her eyes as she displayed on July 1, 2004 standing on the floor of Congress to speak out against the denial of basic human rights to any one member of our human society.
And Leslie never forgets that she works for every Virginian be they Republican, Democrat or whatever. Even Jim Hoeft at Bearing Drift likes her. That says a lot about Leslie Byrne. We know that while Leslie Byrne will represent the 11th district in Congress, she will stand for and fight for all Virginians.
