Programming alert: Tim Kaine and Jim Webb will both be on Sunday morning talk shows today. Possible Obama VP "short lister" Kaine will appear on Faux Fox News Sunday, along with leading McSame running mate possibility Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota. Gee, I wonder what they're gonna talk about. :)

Meanwhile, Jim Webb will appear on CBS' Face the Nation along with Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Clinton campaign advisor Howard Wolfson.

Or, if you don't like either of these options, you watch the "pundits" talk amongst themselves on Meet the Press.

Enjoy!

Are we seeing the first VP 'debate' on Fox today? (sndeak - 6/8/2008 9:24:21 AM)
WOW, Gov. Kaine is doing a great job on Faux this morning.

'TPAW' is definetly on McCain's short list.

How does experience help when you repeat blunder after blunder? (dsvabeachdems - 6/8/2008 10:32:12 AM)
John Kennedy suffered the same form of criticism that is being leveled at Obama. Governor Kaine did well to point out the insanity of the experience argument. Sometimes it helps to come at problems from a different direction. Particularly when the problems are just not being solved.

Hey, Cheney had TONS of experience (Lowell - 6/8/2008 10:35:47 AM)
So did Rumsfeld.  So did Colin Powell for that matter. Look where it got us.  I'm not trying to argue that experience is a bad thing, but it's certainly not the only thing.  Anyway, Barack Obama is an extremely accomplished man with tremendous life and government experience at the local, state and federal levels.  John McSame's been in Washington for decades railing against the same lobbyists who now run his campaign.  Gee, this is a tough choice! :)

Sometimes "experience " is over-sold (McGuffin - 6/8/2008 12:59:54 PM)
You look at Bush-1 (daddy Bush Pres '88-'92) he had the resume from hell. They were calling him the resume candidate, but he turned out to be as Harvey Milktoast as they come.

Rumsfeld, Cheney, and W. Bush have been going around for the past 7 plus years with this John Wayne style diplomacy,
much to the thrill of the millions of mindless neo-cons,  and look where it has gotten us. You couple that with the hog-wild "free markets" that brought us the sub-prime loan and $4.00 gas. All their supposed experience has wasted thousands of young lives, squandered 100s of Billions of dollars and done nothing but bring America to its knees.

If you have excellant leadership capabilities already inside you,(and Obama does)then it's just a matter of surrounding yourself with top notch advisors and people. There's nothing stopping you then.

Ideally,I think, if an individual has strong leadership tendencies he or she will evaulate their information pragmatically and then develop and execute wise policy. In a nutshell that's what makes great statesmen and subsequently a great nation.

Buchanan had experience, Lincoln didn't (Jerry Saleeby - 6/8/2008 2:14:33 PM)
Which of those went on to be a great president?  The other ranks at the bottom of presidents.

Experience can be a plus but it is no guarantee.

Temparment is #1 (Will Write For Food - 6/8/2008 3:01:11 PM)
Some of our most experienced presidents (Buchanan, Nixon) had difficult presidencies because of character flaws and poor judgment. Meanwhile, Washington, Lincoln and Truman never went to college and they turned out OK.

Kaine for Anything But Governor (veryblue - 6/8/2008 5:05:13 PM)
Please, Barry, take Tim as your VP or maybe Secretary of Transportation, because he has failed, failed, failed as Governor.  Maybe little Richmond is more his style.

Wait on second thought, he was failed to solve Virginia's transportation problems, so what is he good for? HUD? probably because the house has already fallen and he can poke around in the ruins.
But don't take Webb.  Virginia needs him.

And Warner and Gilmore??? (Alter of Freedom - 6/8/2008 9:10:37 PM)
Seems to me none of the Governors have been able to crack that nut veryblue. Bailies tried but of course even his own turned on him. Its the General Assembly fighting over the transportation dollar pie that is the issue and not this Governor nor any other. After all, it was a majority of folks in Northern Virginia that opposed the proposition of abuser fees and fought that measure tooth and nail.

So lets ask some very hard and fair questions to Warner and Gilmore at the Homestead next month in the debate about why it was they failed to deliver on transportation as well.
