McSame on Mars?

I ran across this news item and thought it was pretty funny:

Sen. John McCain told Florida newspaper editors today that he thought it would be exciting to send a man to Mars. He did not specify whether that man should be Sen. Barack Obama.

Actually, I was thinking that John McCain would be perfect to send to Mars. I mean, it's at least a 6-month mission to Mars, which means that if McSame started now, he would get there after the fall elections, just about in time to watch Barack Obama be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States.  Being so far away, we'd all be shielded from McCain's legendary temper, although the potentially catastrophic effect on Mars' atmosphere cannot be discounted.

I would also strongly suggest sending George W. Bush - his mentor and political soulmate (McCain votes something like 95% with Bush) along as his co-pilot. Have a great trip! :)

No intelligent life... (cycle12 - 6/6/2008 7:46:12 AM)
Agreed, Lowell, and the arrival on Mars by Bush and McSame would not upset the biological equilibrium on that RED planet where there are no known intelligent life forms...

Thanks!

Somebody MUST go to jail. (Bubby - 6/6/2008 10:34:17 AM)
In a powerful Olbermann discussion last night on the Rockefeller Report on the path to war in Iraq, and the lies that were pushed to build popular support Former Counter-Terrorism Adviser Richard Clark says that with the massive loss of blood and treasure on this misbegotten war there must be censure.

We can't let these people back into polite society, into Universities, into corporate boardrooms without some reckoning.

Trust me, if a marker is not laid down, the GOPers will re-write history and be re-naming Dulles - Bush Airport, in less than five years.

And JFK in New York (Teddy - 6/6/2008 10:45:40 AM)
will become Cheney Airport, right?

How about Cheney-Fresh Kills Landfill? (Bubby - 6/6/2008 12:11:50 PM)
To commemorate Vice President Cheney's single minded obsession with Iraq, and how that inattention led to the successful attack on the World Trade Center by al-Qaeda.  The remains of the WTC (and many human remains) were placed at Fresh Kills Landfill.

Lowell come on (Alter of Freedom - 6/6/2008 10:57:54 AM)
I know you seriously do not believe a guy who basically sat back and allowed push polls in 2000 to blast his wife proposing she was a drug addict and worse, that his child was a black babay out of wedlock, and that he spread agent orange in Vietnam could possibly be his mentor. In fact, they had but two meetings prior to 2002, especially since Mccain voted against his first two rounds of tax cuts (how we forget). I know its politically expedient for us to use words like "mentor" and soulmate, but no more feel Bush is his anymore that Wright was Obama's.

In fact Mccain is no more like Bush than Connelly is like Byrne frankly. Same party, but that is really about it, except for wanting to stay in Iraq which always seems to be the focus.

If Bush was truly his mentor, there is little way McCain could have come out with Bipartissan Campaign Reform Act proposal right after the 2000 election, McCain-Feingold, supported Climate change long before John Warner even who now is getting praise (Climate Stewardship Act 2002) or even blast Bush with the McCain Detainee Amedment. Throw in the two times he voted against the Bush tax cuts and it does not spell "mentor" to me but others may disagree.

Many of us independents supported McCain in 2000 in the Republican Primary over Bush and that was a bitter campaign more so than Clinton and Obama. Recall it was McCain who called Robertson and Falwell "divisive conservatives" in Va Beach leading up to the Va primary while Bush coddled to them and the evangelicals.

Is understandable however, given that NVA will be a battleground this Fall to determine the electoral college but I still think you and we are better than these little jabs. McCain can successfully be attacked on issues and not inuendo, Obama campaign is above this tactic and so should we.

McCain most likely has no more love for Bush than say John Warner had for Ollie North. Just because people where the same colors, in this case the Republican red, does not mean they are carbon copies or even like each other for that matter. None of us like it much when people claim Obama and Clinton are the same (look at the proposals and 95% of the votes except Iraq policy they will say), hey maybe the arguement can be made that Clinton is actually Obama's mentor? I dont think so, but hey using this line of logic the case could probably be made and I think that is unfair.

McCain will sink or swim, and probably sink without the help of anyone else and to throw others in the ring is to imply he cannot be beaten by myself. **Another reason Wright is being used against Obama**

I know many do not agree here, but this should be a referendum on Obama and McCain and not the Clintons or the Bush's, unless of course Obama choses Clinton as VP and McCain choses Jebb Bush.....then all bets are off right?

Yes, sadly... (Lowell - 6/6/2008 11:44:50 AM)
...even after Bush did ALL THAT to McCain, the guy actually embraced Bush, literally and figuratively.

Utterly nauseating.

Very true to your point (Alter of Freedom - 6/6/2008 9:29:16 PM)
Now lets just hope that there are not photos of Obama embracing Rev Wright or standing next to the other rather shady characters being set forth by the conservates these days that will not in your view and logic put him in good light. As your posts represents "A pic says it all I guess" and by the way Lowell we all had better hope that there is no video of Barack/Michelle Obama in Trinity church cheering any negative sermons or we are in big trouble and things will hit the fan if it is found that they were present listening to Wrights tyraid. Again, your logic/premise a pic or video could say it all. Its unfair but I guess the old reality of politics continues.

why'd he vs. whitey? (j_wyatt - 6/6/2008 10:14:36 PM)
Is that the supposed kerfuffle you're referencing?

The supposed videotape of Michelle Obama's supposed rhetorical repetition either saying whitey or, as some supposedly hear it, why'd he, has yet to be produced.   Though talk of it is all over the 'net, no one has actually seen it; supposedly it's being held in reserve by GOP operatives as the October surprise.

If it exists, bring it on.  And let every white American who has never, ever themselves or had someone in their family or been in the presence of someone who used a politically incorrect term for African-Americans throw the first stone.

This great nation is going down the tubes and picking up speed -- we're in an unwinnable war that's bleeding us dry, Osama bin Laden is on the loose and plotting, a barrel of oil is a $ 140, the dollar is at record lows against the euro, our manufacturing base is gutted, healthcare is a mess, a billion and a half Chinese are out hustling us, global warming yada yada and yada -- but supposedly Michele Obama referring to white people as whitey is a deal breaker.

Given the superficiality, myopia and provincialism of so many of our fellow citizens, it's not irrational to be very pessimistic about the future of this country.

Latest Updates on Larry Johnson's Holy Grail, a.k.a., The Michelle Obama Tape

The pro-Hillary blog HillBuzz gives the most detailed description of the alleged Michelle Obama tape yet.

http://campaignspot.nationalre...

So, a reasonable question for all you Clinton supporters who have been posting here today:  is Senator Clinton going to denounce this fervent pro-Clinton website backhanding Senator Obama's honesty some 36 hours after she effectively conceded? What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, no?  Or is it that sexist?

HILLBUZZ

FINAL UPDATE: On 6/5/08, Barack Obama personally denied the existence of any Michelle Obama Rant Tape ... With today's statements to the press, he has now gone on record saying neither he nor Michelle ever said anything like what's been rumored to be on the tape. As the candidate selected by the DNC to lead the party into the General Election this fall, Obama must be taken on his word, because of the high level of trust and confidence placed in him by Howard Dean and the other leaders of the Democratic Party, who know best, and who would not have bet everything on Obama's honesty and candor in all matters present and historic. Remember: Obama has promised to be a new kind of politician, focused on a new kind of politics, and this promise precludes him from ever lying to the media. ...  He also would not risk saying there is no possibility for this tape to exist ... Obama would never lie about something like this ... as they are wont to say, they outfoxed the Clinton Machine, so therefore they (and the DNC) must know what they are doing. So, logically, the Michelle Obama Rant Tape must then not exist and any efforts to find it would be a complete waste of time, money, and energy ...If Obama says the tape does not exist, it must then not exist, and the clues pieced together below from various online and Chicago sources lead to absolutely nothing. Even though journalists have not been able to describe what Michelle Obama DID say at the Conference's panel discussion, we are today certain those remarks are 100% meaningless, because Barack Obama says they are. ...

Nope (Alter of Freedom - 6/8/2008 11:22:14 AM)
J. not a Clinton supporter and supported Obama in Primary my friend and I was and am not referencing any particular event or alleged tape. I was simply stating that if a "picture of embrace" means that someone believes what the other does that we cannot draw different conclusions about the McCain/Bush relationship or the Obama/Wright one.

I do not want to get into the Wright thing honestly, its tired but my point was more to the ridiculous portrayal of totality some here place on pictures meaning anyhting more than the momment.Thats all.

I shake hands will people everyday I don't rather like frankly. Does that handshake if captured on a cell phone mean anything based in reality? I do not think so, but then many like to create realities for their own ends.
