I know it is hard on lower income families; but is it not true that a lot of problems in our country would be helped if gas were more expensive rather than cheaper? The market would have incentive to research alternate energy, consumers would have incentive to conserve energy, the environment would benefit.
Clinton and McCain tried this with their gas-tax holiday, that the American public seemed to reject (I admit that was based on a few polls only). I see this is different, but is this really the direction Rasoul wants to take?
I hope he wins in November, just expressing concern that this may hurt his chances.
And I hope Sam plans on the spending the time in the spotlight promoting solid, sustainable, and environmentally friendly, long term energy plans. We don't need to "increase awareness" that there is a problem, we need to increase awareness of the positive solutions.
