The Washington Post's political reporting continues to suffer from opinion pieces masquerading as news articles.Amy Gardner's article wasn't about Party unity - it was about a rift between Governor Kaine and Senator Webb. Those are the only two people or endorsements the article focused on.
These candidates have dozens of endorsements. None of these "threatened party unity" over the last several months. No one started talking about party unity until Governor Kaine weighed in.
The article featured unsubstantiated assertions about what "could" happen in terms of party unity - Amy Gardner's opinion - instead of any sources or actual statements showing any real voters if any of the campaigning is causing any lack of unity.
I'd just add one other comment/question.
How does Gerry Connolly say stuff like this with a straight face? "I wanted to keep this election on the issues, on our qualifications, on our electability. I think that's what the Democratic family wanted, and so have I." Yeah, right, that "rats" flier was really about the issues, Gerry. Just like when you smeared Charlie Hall for being a "Republican."
