Will Abramoff Deal Topple Allen?

Lobbyist Jack Abramoff will plead guilty to federal charges in Washington and Miami, clearing the way for him to cooperate in a massive government investigation of influence peddling involving members of Congress, lawyers said Tuesday. [AP]

Now that Abramoff is cooperating with federal prosecutors the question is:  Who else is he going to bring down?

As Raising Kaine has explored [HERE], [HERE], [HERE], and elsewhere, Virginia's Senator George Allen is among the highest profile recipients of bagman Abramoff's illicit largess.

The Republican Culture of Corruption is endemic to this Congress.  Abramoff is merely the latest grub to be uncovered as we continue to flip the rock and see what's been festering in the dark.

When the Feds finish the Herculean task of cleaning this "Agean Stables", will George Allen be washed away with alleged criminal slime like the plea bargaining Abramoff and the indicted Tom DeLay?

America needs a clean start.  It's time for Democrats to start using real hardball, no-holds barred politics.  Justice will take its course in the courts and in the voting booth.

[UPDATE: President Bush, Tom Davis, Eric Cantor, and many other politicians are scrambling to dump Abramoff money.  See here and here.  However, according to the Washington Post, "David Sneep, a spokesman for Sen. George Allen (R-Va.), said the senator does not plan to return $2,000 he accepted from the Saginaw Chippewa tribe in 2004."  Sneep adds that "To do so would suggest that the tribe has done something wrong, and they haven't."]
