In 2006 I was endorsed by Progressive Democrats of America in part because of my strong support for ending U.S. presence in the quagmire in Iraq and because I support universal health care covering every American.

On Thursday I was pleased to speak on behalf of the PDA and join with Congressional Progressive Democrats and leaders of the Out of Iraq Caucus: Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters, Lynn Woolsey, and Dennis Kucinich (not pictured but attending the event were members: Sheila Jackson Lee, Jerrold Nadler) at a press conference on Capitol Hill called to detail the Progressive response to the additional supplemental spending request for Iraq.

Progressive Democrats of America is a grassroots PAC that works both inside the Democratic Party and outside in movements for peace and justice. Its goal is to elect a permanent, progressive majority in Congress. More information about PDA's "Healthcare NOT Warfare" campaign click here:

My thanks to Tim Carpenter, PDA's National Director and Howard Jennings, PDA Virgina's State Coordinator for offering me this opportunity and to Mike Hersh and Tom Pallow from PDA's national staff who distributed press releases, Healthcare NOT Warfare cards, and took pictures at the event.
