This is a redo of a video (now removed) looking back at events in Prince William County in October 2007, leading up to the passage of the historic "Immigration Resolution" on October 16th, and the Virginia State Election on November 6th.
This video digs a bit deeper than the original video, invoking the name of Chairman Corey Stewart. Chairman Stewart recently distanced himself from the primary subject of this video, Greg Letiecq. Letiecq is the President of Help Save Manassas, the blogger/admin of Black Velvet Bruce Li, and the chief advocate of the Immigration Resolution, which Stewart supported.
The primary revelation in the first video was that Letiecq collaborated with NumbersUSA to generate faxes and emails from a national list serve to lobby the Board of Supervisors prior to the October 16th vote.
The additional revelation in this video is that Chairman Corey Stewart and Greg Letiecq may have communicated on October 2nd in the hours before the Board's meeting.
I decided to remove the old video rather than keep both up because there was a lot of overlap, and because, if seen without its companion, it would cause viewers to mistakenly believe that Washington Post reporter Nick Miroff "tipped off" Letiecq and/or Stewart that the Board was having second thoughts about passing the Resolution. This is completely false. Miroff was simply conducting a phone interview which is, naturally, an important aspect of his job. Miroff had no information that Supervisors Caddigan, Covington, May, Nohe, and Barg (since retired) did not plan to support the Resolution -- the false claim that Letiecq made in his "Help Save Manassas Alert." According to Miroff, Stewart became very worried when asked whether he indeed had the votes. Minutes later, Letiecq's alert went out and the Board was bombarded with emails.
This "flashback" is relevant today because a similar storm is being created for the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 29th.
This Washington Post article by Kristen Mack from April 23, is what touched off the firestorm.

I have to apologize to Eric.
In the "Illegals, God and the Gospel" video, I thought that Eric intentionally edited the footage to make Greg appear to be an ignorant, arrogant [gratuitous profanity deleted].
But seeing this video, Greg goes on and on in what seems to be an unedited diatribe. His hate and arrogance are apparent.
Sorry Eric.

NoDirtyBeanersInUSA Channel
that has the white power symbol, a commenter on your page. That made me ask....

Considering that this is YouTube, I have contact with a variety of users- some are more provocative than others. I am free to choose who I do or don't want to make contact with. I have no control over what users stand for and/or have on their channels. If it offends someone, then so be it.

I have NO problem with that as I do the same I try to get ALL
perspectives. I just asked a simple question, that is all..peace.

connections.

So what is it exactly on my page that have lead you to those assumptions?
FYI, I am Hispanic-American.

I just saw people in your comment section that represent such thought
on your page. It was an honest question.

Doctorate, I know you're not Hispanic-American. I know who you are.

that you're Hispanic.
/rolls eyes. I loved his attitude displayed in that video. What a tool.
I wonder how many e-mails and calls the Board of Supervisors did in fact receive before that vote? Clearly, many citizens were dismayed by what seemed to be a growing immigrant population, but was it any worse aat that moment than before Letiecq and Stewart decided to make an official problem out of the situation? Why did no other member of the BOS, or another local (Democratic) leader offer an effective alternative response? They all seemed to be blindsided by the uproar.
As I've said elsewhere, Stewart thought he could "use" the issue and Letiecq to promote himself, and now finds that he cannot easily dismount the tiger.
But now the four good people who were BOCS members when the vote was taken have been given an opportunity by supervisor Principi, the only person who was not a board member, to correct the mistake. It seems very interesting and informative that a private citizen was better able than the board members to consider all the information, see the real objectives of the culprits and reach a correct decision. But I think we all understand how very difficult it is for our supervisors who work in the pressure cooker environment of their positions to make the right decisions. As with most legislative actions, those five good people were faced with the very difficult task of somehow crafting a compromise that they now realize went too far in the wrong direction.
Now that the predictably disastrous results are crytal clear, I feel confident that the majority of BOCS members will do what they know in their hearts and minds is the right thing to do, and vote against using PWC residents' money to pay for tasks that should never have been forced upon our great police force in the first place. Realistically, I don't think it's politically likely (or perhaps not even politically possible)yet to rescind the resolution, although I do believe that may be possible after the next BOCS elections. But I do think this "unfunding" is in a sense analogous to the two step process that Congress may have to implement to end American military involvement in the Iraq war: Refusal to fund a bad policy will have the effect of correcting the resolution mistake and will help mitigate the effects until it is possible for the BOCS majority to vote in favor of rescinding the resolution.
One last thought (for now): I believe it is the duty of every BOCS member, and especially the chair, to meet with ICE officials and members of Congress and members of Congress to demand that ICE pay for and perform Federal functions, not local or state governments. I also strongly believe that BOCS members are obligated to testify at Congressional committee hearings relating to ICE funding. This testimony must include the mandatory use of Federal prisons, and must require full and immediate reimbursement of expenses associated with temporary housing of prisoners in PWC jails.
I think most of you may recall when Corey Stewart was invited to testify before a Congressional committee on this very subject and failed to even mention, much less request, that ICE be directed to reimburse PWC for all expenses incurred - including not only jail expenses but salaries of police officers and civilian employees. This was an opportunity that should have been acted upon at that moment and is yet another example of a failure to exercise BOCS chairmanship leadership that PWC taxpayers have every right to expect of all BOCS members, and especially the chair. I will try to make this point and others as strongly and clearly as I know how during citizens' time at the hearing next Tuesday and I ask that all of you who can do likewise. The hearing in the McCoart building chambers begins at 2:00 P.M.; please be there.
