A Christmas lesson

Watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas last night, I was struck by the relevance to a certain Virginia politician:

And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
"It came without packages, boxes or bags!"

And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

Rep. Jo Ann Davis has been worried about a mythical attack on candy canes and Christmas trees, as if there's some real world grinch out there stealing the holiday away from us.  But Christmas "doesn't come from a store," Ms. Davis.  It's a whole lot more than your silly resolution about Christmas symbols.

Merry Christmas to you, Rep. Davis, and everyone else in Virginia, and have a Happy New Year!
