Now Hillary, Too: More Security Breaches at State

This just in from CNN.com:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday told Sen. Hillary Clinton that the security of her passport file were breached in 2007, according to Clinton's Senate official.
The revelation came shortly after Rice said she had apologized to Clinton's Democratic presidential rival Sen. Barack Obama for the unauthorized viewing of his passport file by contractors working for the State Department.
There are still tons of unanswered questions here. Why has the State Department refused to release the names of the companies that employed the contractors? Fortunately, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) is already on the case.
UPDATE: AP says a search turned up breaches of McCain's passport files, too.

Reference case #1, #2, #3 (Bubby - 3/21/2008 3:18:40 PM)
Why all Americans should be concerned about disclosing personal and private information to the government - they outsource the job to subcontractors, little respect for the citizenry, and no accountability.
Whoopie! Here comes Real I.D.!
About 15 years ago I visited the IRS Philadelphia Service Center (Randy Klear - 3/21/2008 5:18:09 PM)
for a facility tour that included a meeting with their security people. They discussed their automated system for unauthorized data access alerts, and mentioned that they had to fire a couple of people every year for sneaking peeks at celebrity tax returns, particularly the president's.
There may well be less here than meets the eye. The fact that it took State 3 months or more to report it to the parties involved is inexcusable, though.
Given past experience (Teddy - 3/21/2008 6:00:24 PM)
I am sure these cases will be whitewashed as something done by "rogue" members of the curious public. But, again given past experience in how politicized every little thing has become under the neocon Republicans, I confess I find it hard to believe this is innocent curiosity. The only thing I am curious about at this point is: were all three breaches instituted by one group (i.e., probably the far right) or was more than one outfit involved? I can imagine different scenarios for each.
Oh Shoot! (notwaltertejada - 3/21/2008 10:16:06 PM)
and you thought you were going to be able to use this as evidence of "bias" against obama.
