Sometimes it's better to let the pictures do the talking, so without further ado I am silent.

Hmmmph...  One more thing and then I'll be quiet - there are a boat load of photos on the flip (though only a fraction of what I shot) so bandwidth challenged readers beware.  You've been warned.

Man I love it!

Hope you fellas had a good time, and also hope you got to see some of the action outside of the suite.

See you fellas in Martinsville in 2 weeks?

How much fuel spent? (heywaitaminute - 3/19/2008 10:08:44 AM)
Has anyone seen any studies on how much oil it takes to fuel one of these races, including the drive by fans to and from the track and how much carbon such an event emits? That would be good to know as we try to cut demand for oil.

In the bigger picture (Eric - 3/19/2008 10:16:58 AM)
the amount of fuel spent by the race cars is nothing - even though they get laughable fuel economy compared to the real world.  Personally, I'd love to see electric race cars appearing in some support races.  But there isn't a major electric racing series right now.

You're right about how much is consumed by everything else  - especially the sheer volume of people driving to the track.  But this can (and should) be addressed by fixing our overall fleet economy and moving hard toward hybrid/electric engines.

Eric makes a good point, but also a large majority of the fans camp out for the weekend.

I know when I goto races, I probably save fuel for the country because my car is parked in a field from thursday/friday night all the way to sunday evening.

hybrids and hitchhikers (heywaitaminute - 3/19/2008 11:23:46 AM)
I own a hybrid and like it a lot, our nation's auto makers once again are stuck in yesteryear and foreign countries are eating their lunch on this new technology, when gas hits $5.00 per gallon, owners of big SUV's will stop laughing at my little car when I pull over to give them a ride.

Great Pictures (Brian - 3/19/2008 11:25:39 AM)
Eric: These are great pictures!  The only way they could have been better would been to include one of Kevin Harvick in victory lane. :)

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo harvick! (MikeSizemore - 3/19/2008 12:25:37 PM)
