Eric and I are on a road trip to Southwest Virginia. On the way, we checked out the site of the infamous, proposed Dominion coal-fired power plant in St. Paul (Wise County).  We particularly loved how Dominion calls the plant a "hybrid."  Must be environmentally friendly, like a Prius or something. Haha. Anyway, that's Dominion for you - Propaganda Starts Here. More photos to follow...

[UPDATE: I've added some photos of the Oldcastle Gravel Quarry.

Are people really (Terry85 - 3/15/2008 8:07:11 PM)
so ignorant that they can't see through this!?  I mean really?  Calling a coal-fired power plant a "hybrid?"  EL OH EL.

biomass generator on site (floodguy - 3/16/2008 1:07:57 AM)
obviously DVP slapped on this generator to their coal proposal, so that they say it is intended to assist them meet the state's RPS.  The plant will use wood waste-to-fuel and will have a nameplate capacity of 80MW.  Turn down the coal plant, and sabotague DVP's attempt to reach the 12% RPS goal.  Chairman Farrell must have been laughing his a$$ off when they came of with the name.
