Lets go VT Hokies!

Go Heels! (code - 3/15/2008 11:01:11 AM)
Carolina's gonna mop up the court with VT in a few hours. Now I don't begrudge them a shot at the Big Dance, but they're not going to win today :)

Not Quite a Mopping But... (code - 3/15/2008 4:08:45 PM)
Carolina still won. Tech has 13 losses and no signature wins. Not likely to get picked tomorrow

Doesn't Matter (oldsoldier - 3/15/2008 7:41:51 PM)
It took the best player in the country on the best team in the country to sink an offensive rebound for the win by 2 points in the final seconds against one junior and four freshmen.

Greenberg deserved his ACC Coach of the Year and for once, "Wait til Next Year" is more than hoping for Tech Fans.  If tech lacks signature wins and isn't picked after this incredible game (they lead the ACC in scoring defense even after the whupping in Chapel Hill), then show the NIT what next year will bring for the Hokies.

I think Carolina will wipe the floor with Clemson, but I could be wrong.

Carolina isn't doing much mopping of anybody lately. (MikeSizemore - 3/16/2008 5:16:29 PM)
I agree with oldsoldier here on the meaning of it taking the national player of the year on the #1 team in the nation to hit a last second shot to beat the Hokies. Please don't take my tone  as anti-unc (and made some new heel friends at the tournament this weekend). They are the best team in the country and deserve that #1 spot and a #1 seed.

But, Virginia Tech has 10 wins in the ACC- the #1 RPI conference in America. Do you know when the last time a 10-win ACC team was denied entry into the dance? Hasn't happened. I'm about 50-50 on our chances this year though.

Oh, and Seth Greenberg absolutely rocks.

Results (tlchaplin - 3/15/2008 8:23:44 PM)
Tech lost in a very close game by two points but I don't remember the exact score.

Looks like Va Basketball fans will have to get behind George Mason (Alter of Freedom - 3/15/2008 9:38:01 PM)
Even with the win over the Hurricanes and the close one today against Carolina Va Tech does not seem to getting any respect tonight by the pundits. Funny how you an finish fourth in the regular season and take the #1 team to the wire in the highest rated RPI conference and not get in regardless of any other factors. Oh the days when 6 and 7 would go from the ACC.
And looks like VCU may be heading to the NIT as well. Both teams lost to ODU this year and Richmond beat Va Tech as well so maybe the pundits have it right?

Sorry folks... (RFKdem - 3/15/2008 10:40:18 PM)
My family bleeds Carolina Blue.  I may not be Tarheel born but I'm tarheel bred and when I die I'll be tarheel dead! ;).

Tech put up a good fight, some commentators on ESPN were suggesting that they ought to be considered for the tourny.  Good luck to them.

Wow. (MikeSizemore - 3/16/2008 7:28:50 PM)
This year's bracket is an absolute joke. Arizona, Oregon and Kentucky get in??? The ACC, which is the #1 rated conference in America, only gets 4 teams and the Big East, the #5 conference, gets 8???

The committee chairman, who is from George Mason, also said they "do not look at conference strength". Wow.

These guys are idiots (DanG - 3/16/2008 9:13:59 PM)
The choices this year make about as much sense as the bowl games this year.
