Eliot Spitzer use to be my hero

As Attorney General of New York Eliot Spitzer cracked down on corruption. He was ruthless in his attack on crime in the highest places. I thought he was one of the best people in the world. I truly thought he earned the nickname "Eliot Ness".
Today, I am saddened that a person I once thought was a hero has violated the trust of the people. Now named as "Client number 9" in a prostitution sting, he has clearly done things that are at a minimum serious ethics violations.
There is only one honarable course of action now. Resign. For the sake of your party, your family, and your country - resign Eliot Spitzer.
I wish to God that Spitzer could continue his attacks against crime and corruption, but the sad truth is that he has become the common criminal he once fought against.
We are a forgiving nation so even though he will never recover politically, his past deeds were good. I hope one day he can redeem himself and become half the man he once was.
Good-bye Eliot Spitzer. And good luck.

He has to resign. There is a titlewave against him. He'll either resign or be impeached.
Interesting how quickly this was leaked (Randy Klear - 3/11/2008 1:40:09 PM)
compared to Republican sex problems like those of David Vitter and Larry Craig. You don't suppose the Bush DoJ has an agenda, do you?
Maybe, maybe not (relawson - 3/11/2008 4:40:58 PM)
But, the way to avoid such an agenda is quite simple: don't break the law.
Were there any laws broken by Spitzer? (Lowell - 3/11/2008 4:42:08 PM)
I'm not talking ethics or morality or politics here, I'm just asking whether or not he broke any laws in doing what he did.
Maybe the Mann Act (Matt H - 3/11/2008 4:51:15 PM)
And perhaps money laundering.
He is presumed innocent (relawson - 3/11/2008 11:08:22 PM)
He is presumed innocent. I have no idea if he will be convicted of a crime.
If he had sex with a prostitute - and if that is in fact a crime in the place where that occured then the answer to your question is yes.
In Florida, it is a 3rd degree felony and it gets your face on the sexual offenders website. I'm not a lawyer an not from his state, so who knows.
Of course, this all stems from a federal investigation. The question is if he will be charged with a crime, and if so by whom - meaning the federal government or the state.
