Great point (Terry85 - 3/7/2008 7:18:21 PM)
While I still think having the primary last this long is giving McCain a "head start" it is certainly giving the Democrats a chance to reach out to people in states they wouldn't normally even bother with.
Really? (tx2vadem - 3/7/2008 7:50:34 PM)
Clinton and Obama attacking each other for months to come. Basically, doing McCain and the Republicans work for them free of charge. A battle that continues to the convention where multiple ballots are required to come up with a nominee. Superdelegates playing the deciding role and possibly pissing off a whole lot of supporters of one candidate or the other. And both campaigns draining resources for the General on an extended primary fight. This is good?
I am all for a 50 state strategy. And I think our nominee should make a point of visiting every state and reaching out to voters everywhere. Because everyone should feel included in this monumental event. But a long primary battle seems like we are giving up any advantage we had going into this November. And at the end of the day, I fear that Denver will represent a Pyrrhic victory for our nominee.
