I was listening to National Public Radio the other day as they interviewed Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was mostly a hot, steaming cup of crazy as Land said Democrats loved abortions so would never win over evangelicals.
But then, a moment of clarity. "I feel badly for Hillary Clinton," said Land. "She's conducting a job interview. Obama is on a date."
If you were at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in February, you saw that dynamic play out perfectly. Clinton came out and methodically went through her laundry list of proposals, all very reasonable and many even more progressive than Obama's. Then Obama came out and whipped the crowd into a frenzy with not policy but poetry.
