Dominion Must Really Think We're Dumb

In an effort to distort their plans to rape our land and poison our citizens by constructing a new "clean" coal-fired power plant in Southwest Virginia, Dominion Power is apparently trying to boost their image and heroic credentials by donating $15,000 to help rebuild the historic High Knob Tower that was recently destroyed. The tower, which lied on National Forest land near the border of Scott and Wise counties, was burned to the ground by an arsonist this past Halloween.

This is an insult to everyone that lives in Southwest Virginia!  The mere notion that Dominion can sway support in their favor by making a minute donation to an overwhelmingly popular project, one that was quickly becoming entirely funded anyway, is a slap in the face to everyone that lives in Southwest Virginia.

The fact that any news outlet decided to cover this is an insult as well.

More greenwashing (Eric - 2/28/2008 7:19:54 PM)
Everything they put out now (or "invest" in) has some environmental twist to it.  Normally that'd be a good thing, except that Dominion is dropping only a few cents here and there in order to claim major environmental efforts in their PR campaigns.

Hell, I'll bet they're spending orders of magnitude more money on BS greenwashing ad campaigns than on actual environmentally friendly efforts.  Drop a few bucks and take MAJOR credit.  $15,000 huh?  How much does a full page ad in the WAPO cost?  Not to mention the high priced consulting firms.  And the ads all over Metro.  And so on and so on...
