Clinton/700 club?!?!?!?

Wow, the sky MUST be following.

Hillary Clinton appeared in an interview this AM on the 700 Club...yeah, that's right....THE 700 Club!

What is her communications department thinking??Giving up 15 minutes (not much time in the real world, but on campaign time...it's pretty huge) to be interviewed by "CBN News' Senior National Correspondent David Brody"????

She speaks about the phenomenon of Obama's campaign, her faith and how it got her through the "difficulties" in her marriage.

On Faith she states:

"We look at the roots of our faith," Clinton said. "Our personal relationship with God and obviously through Jesus Christ, which gives us a sense that we're not only saved, but that we're called and that we're given much and much is required."

Ok, that's great. But WHY 700 Club?? Does she not know what a bigot Pat Robertson is? Could she have at least done an interview with Rev. Jim Wallis?

Her press scheduler needs to be shot. The evangelical voters who watch 700 Club wouldn't consider voting for a "Clinton". If she wanted to talk about her faith, anyone and anywhere but Pat Robertson's 700 Club.

Don't you think that's extreme? n/t (KathyinBlacksburg - 2/26/2008 9:22:21 PM)
And I say this as an Obama supporter.

No, it's a waste of resources (proudvadem - 2/26/2008 9:42:47 PM)
and the candidate's time. Of all the media outlets to give 15 minutes too? WHY would anyone give an interview to CBN??? To possibly reach the 5% or so that MAY even consider vote Democratic??
Pat Robertson's crew loathes Hillary Clinton  and has made no bones about it.

I sat next to the scheduler when I worked on the '00 IA caucus, and my candidate's time was allocated down to the second. So, if she is indeed trying to win in these crucial races- why waste time that could be used more productively?

And interestingly enough, I just heard that Obama gave the SAME CBN reporter an interview?!?!?!?

I don't see any reason to give anyone or anything affiliated with the intolerant Pat Robertson ANYTHING. Period. And when either campaign reaches out to faith groups, it should be only those who don't claim to pray away hurricanes.

Obama also interviewed with Brody (Randy Klear - 2/26/2008 9:52:38 PM)
on January 22, shortly before the South Carolina primary. Both of them talk to Fox News on occasion, too. It goes with the territory.

Yeah, but CBN???? (proudvadem - 2/26/2008 10:03:05 PM)
Ok, Faux News is almost mainstream...but CBN?!?!?!
Maybe I've been out of the game too long, and perhaps the implosion of the "Christian" Coalition has changed the playing field but I don't recall any previous Democratic Presidential candidate even given those clowns media credentials.

Maybe I've lived in Hampton Roads too long and just have no patience for anything Pat touches...

Yes, CBN. (Randy Klear - 2/27/2008 5:49:32 AM)
They have a couple of million viewers nationwide, and a number of them vote. They are capable of independent thought, believe it or not, and they are worth reaching out to, even if Pat Robertson is not. You can't change their minds if you refuse to talk to them completely. (This is Obama's point on talking to hostile foreign leaders, in case you hadn't noticed.)

Ok good point.. (proudvadem - 2/27/2008 10:26:57 AM)
Like I said, perhaps I've been out of the game for awhile. Back in the 90s, we didn't touch anything related to the Pat Robertson/Jerry Falwell/Ralph Reed. I've been out of the loop since the 2000 election.
But my point is, WHY waste 15 minutes on a crap shoot? Time is precious on any campaign but particularly in the last few days before a primary/caucus.

This is bizarre (KathyinBlacksburg - 2/27/2008 11:02:58 AM)
And right out of long-ago SNL's bizarro-world.

What is bizarre? (proudvadem - 2/27/2008 12:26:14 PM)
Elaborate please because I'm missing your point...Is it bizarre that I think that these people don't deserve a candidate's time.
I remember the venom in 1994 during the Robb/North campaign that Robertson et al spewed. I remember the witch hunts, the smears, the "only the GOP" can be considered Christian remarks.
I don't think those in the radical right deserve to be rewarded, period.
