This has seemed sort of obvious, given that Kaine has been one of Obama's earliest and hardest-working big-name supporters, but it's nice to hear it from the horse's mouth.
I think this puts Tim directly in the Veepstakes, but I'm wondering whether he might also be considered for a cabinet post, and which ones in particular he might go for.
Veep (Evan M - 2/12/2008 4:32:33 PM)
I think it's Veep or nothing for TK. I would hope he wouldn't leave the Governorship to Bill Bolling for anything less.
I think Kaine would make a great running mate (8thDistrictDonkey - 2/12/2008 7:40:03 PM)
but I'm not sure he'd be offered the position. I think Obama would need a person with a strong military background (Clark, Webb) or someone who could bring out a significant portion of the base (Richardson, Sebelius) on Election Day. If Obama's the nominee, I'd like to see Wes Clark on the ticket, for the reason I mentioned above, and also as an olive branch to the Clinton faction of the party.
I'd like Kaine to complete his governorship and then potentially be a (*fingers crossed*) second-term Obama cabinet member, maybe at Education, since he proposed the billion-dollar bond for college improvements in this state.
