Four Good Reasons Not to Support John McCain

Here are four good reasons not to support John McCain for president this November.

First, "Attorney General Bob McDonnell endorsed John McCain yesterday."

Second, Congressman Eric Cantor also aligned himself with McCain."

Third,  "Former Virginia governor George Allen (R) today endorsed Sen. John McCain's bid for the Republican nomination for president."

Fourth,  "President Bush urges GOP to rally around likely nominee John McCain."

Let's see: "Taliban Bob," Eric Abramoff sandwich Cantor, George "Macaca" Allen, and George "Worst President Ever" Bush -- all endorsing John McCain?  Is there anything else you need to know?

Just wondering... (spotter - 2/9/2008 8:11:04 AM)
Do you think this whole "John McCain is not conservative enough" schtick might just be a PR stunt to try to boost McCain's image as a maverick and make the Republican nominee more acceptable to a public that's really, really disgusted with the Republican party?

The Bush administration took great pains yesterday to say that Bush had NOT endorsed McCain.  Maybe they're just trying to show he's a "different kind of Republican."

Yes, it's possible. (Lowell - 2/9/2008 8:36:34 AM)
Look at McCain's Project Vote Smart ratings and you'll see that he's very conservative (ZERO from NARAL, 90% on the John Birch Society's "conservative index," etc.).

Colln Powell "keeping my options open" (Lowell - 2/9/2008 9:42:58 AM)
Colin Powell says he "will vote for the candidate I think can do the best job for America, whether that candidate is a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent."   In addition:

Powell also offered praise for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, calling him an "exciting person on the political stage.

"He has energized a lot of people in America," said Powell, who briefly weighed his own run for the White House in the mid-1990s. "He has energized a lot of people around the world. And so I think he is worth listening to and seeing what he stands for."

Interesting.

Remember why Powell removed himself (Teddy - 2/9/2008 10:41:56 AM)
from consideration? As I recall, it was his wife who prevailed upon him to do so because she had an intense fear that he would be assassinated (a black man, even a general, is not safe when he gets, ah... uppity).

Of course, this 2008, not the 1990's, and now we have a female being uppity as well as a black male. The rock solid bigots of America cannot decide which one they despise (fear) more, and it's a dilemma which may be solved only when one of them actually gets the nomination. Who knows what the bigots will then decide they are required to do to save the country from the scandal of a president who is not the conventional wisdom white establishment male.

Five Better Reasons Not to Support McCain (soccerdem - 2/9/2008 11:19:54 AM)
1.  He fathered an illegitimate kid, as reported by Republican supporters in 2004;

2.  His wife is mentally ill, as reported by Republican supporters in 2004;

3.  His wife sells beer;

4.  He left part of his brain in his prison cell in Viet Nam, as told to Rebecca by her friend and noted in one of her postings;

5.  He was one of the Keating Five, going to see Keating to get big bucks, while ignoring the excellent advice of a key aide when she told him "Keep away from Keating."

McCain's Own Words (norman swingvoter - 2/9/2008 10:29:32 PM)
From keeping us in Iraq for 100 more years to his rant that there will be more wars, this guy is delusional when it comes to the subject of war. With 35000 casualities and 20 billion being spent per month, we have to come out with a plan to start drawing down.  McCain will pick up where bush left off and continue fighting for at least 4 more years regardless of the consequences to this country.
